From a modest workshop in the heart of Cologne to an internationally successful company: For over 100 years, GIZEH has represented the ultimate moment of enjoyment.
The name was a key part of the brand's success even back then. The Egyptian world and its symbols have always represented a longing for freedom, sensuality and imagination. The logo, featuring the Sphinx and pyramids, symbolizes the mysteries of the Orient, captivating many consumers.
To this day, the brand impresses with its quality and variety. With this commitment, GIZEH has become a success story in over 80 countries worldwide. What started in 1920 continues to be a tradition, creating special moments for over 100 years.
FOUNDING OF THE BRAND AND COMPANY IN COLOGNE.
On January 2, 1920, rolling paper production kicked off in Cologne with just three employees. After some early successes, the brand quickly expanded and later relocated the production facility to a larger building in Cologne's southern district.
POWERFUL DUO: GIZEH FILTER TUBES AND THE SILVER TIP BOY
The "Make Your Own" concept came from the USA. In the 70s, GIZEH introduced its own filter tubes to the European market for the first time. 1973 marked the birth of the self-developed and patented GIZEH Silver Tip Boy stuffing machine. For over 50 years, it has remained an almost unchanged classic — often copied, but never equaled.
FOUNDING OF GIZEH RAUCHERBEDARF GMBH
Until the mid-90s, the GIZEH factory in Bergneustadt was producing an ever-wider range of products, but smoking supplies were no longer the sole focus. The company was split: The smoking supplies division was sold to the Dutch family company Mignot & de Block B.V. and GIZEH Raucherbedarf GmbH was founded.
MARKET LAUNCH OF GIZEH BLACK® WITH MAGNETIC CLOSURE
With GIZEH BLACK®, the GIZEH brand underwent a complete makeover. The new flagship range features a unique innovation: the elegant booklets can be neatly closed repeatedly thanks to the hidden magnetic closure. The combination of new design and innovative magnetic closure was awarded the Red Dot Design Award in its debut year.
THE BRAND TURNS 100 YEARS OLD
In 2020, the brand celebrated its 100th anniversary with countless moments of enjoyment.
